I like the painting because as a child it always made me curious to find out what the story of the old man is and why he is so sad and tired. When I grew up I realized that he is a refugee in a Palestinian refugee camp, and the rest of his family are sleeping behind him in the tent.
Ismail Shammout is a political painter, and he does a lot of stuff that revolves around the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
This painting is important to me because it makes me appreciate what I have, and also because it reminds me of childhood memories in my grandparents house.
